The CMC3 Foundation board also decided
at its January 25th, 2002 meeting to play catch up in its awarding of its
" CMC3 Foundation Scholarships" and instead of the customary
25% of the CMC3 colleges to receive $100 scholarships the board
decided to award 50% of its colleges $300 scholarship for the academic year
2001-2002.
The " CMC3 Foundation Scholarship" criteria are the following:
The student has
- completed first semester Calculus or higher
- declared Mathematics, Physical Science, Computer
Science or Engineering as a major
- earned more than 30 semester or 45 quarter units
and plans to transfer to an accredited college or university for the
next academic year, and
- earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The CMC3 Foundation encourages the 20 colleges
to acknowledge their Scholarship recipient through such things as the
college newspaper, the local newspaper, and at graduation ceremonies.
The colleges were selected from the 4 groups made up of the 54 CMC3
colleges. The groups, which are rotated each year and were pulled by lot
by a previous CMC3 Foundation Board. Remember the board is
playing catch up form prior years, therefore 2 of the groups will be awarded
scholarships this year instead of just one group. The goal of the board
is to award the " CMC3 Foundation Scholarships " to all 54
colleges every academic year.
